This month with the release of our new Refreshing theme, we continue with our series of making enhancements relentlessly for improving our application’s functionality and providing you with better invoicing experience. This updation is encouraged with a sole objective to provide our valuable clients which best suits their business requirements.

As always, we take every feature request into serious concern and thus, we have added quite a few new features within Invoicera based on our customer’s requests. So, look at our new features, which we have recently added to our application :

Customize your Estimate Template

Previously, a separate invoice template has been provided which you can customize as per your business identity but now in our latest feature update, it would be possible to customize your estimate template as well as per your requirements. Now, with this Invoicera gives you full control of what your estimates and invoices look like.

PDF Export with All Invoicing Plans

The users who are using our free invoicing plan are now allowed to export and send an invoice in the PDF format to their client whom they want to. Now, with free plan also you can send PDF of your invoice/estimate to your client as mail attachment.

Add Product/Service Description in Multiple Lines

If your product description is in bulleted format, you can now add that description into the same format in multiple lines while creating an invoice.

Set your own Hourly Rate

Now admin user can set their own hourly rate for project without adding any staff members.

Create More than One Account with Same Email Id

Many users do not want to use separate email ids for different accounts. Keeping this thought in mind, now Invoicera provides you with the flexibility to create more than one Invoicera account with same email is.  In addition, from now onwards you can change your contact details such as your business name, address etc.

We are constantly evaluating our application to make it better and we are obliged to our customers who have been able to envisage our goal to bring nothing less than the best online invoicing experience. We think that adding the above features would greatly advance our application usability. While these are few enhancements, there are many more in our store. The fact which can’t be denied is that there are so many services in the online market which provide solutions for invoicing your clients but when it comes to understanding their needs, we think that we have added something extra to this context. Invoicera has recently launched a new feature for its users through which they can customize their invoice templates as per their needs and requirements. This step was inspired with a sole objective to provide online entrepreneurs, a invoice which best suits their requirements.

The online industry depends much upon how presentable are you in front of your clients and what special you can offer to them for the price they are paying to you. So for this, Invoicera will now allow its users to make any kind of necessary changes in their respective invoice template. The good thing about this concept is that it is very simple to perform or make any changes to your invoice template, therefore, if you are not much tech savvy, then also you can avail this facility. You just need to follow a simple process to make whatever changes you want to make. Therefore, read carefully the steps which are mentioned below:

1: The first step is to open your Invoicera account and after you land on the homepage, you will see a “settings” option on the upside right corner of your homepage. Click on the”settings” option and go to “general preferences”, after clicking on that you will come to the next page where you can find “template customization” option again on the upside right corner of that page. You need to click on that option and it will take you to the page where you can see the whole format of your invoice.

2: Now whatever field you want to change in your invoice or you do not want that field to be displayed on your invoice, you can easily make changes by simply selecting the field which you want to change or edit and then going to the source code. Now, make sure while you deal with the coding part, if you want to delete some section from your template then you also have to delete the “tbody id” from the source code. You just have to copy these codes into your HTML editor and then make changes in the coding of their respective fields. Also if you want to delete some of the unnecessary rows or columns from your template, you can easily delete them with just a right click on the desired field and you will find an option to remove rows and columns.

3: If you want to make some changes in the font size, color or modify the tables of your templates, all these functions can be performed by simply making necessary changes in the CSS coding.

4: Once you are done with the editing part, come back to your invoice format and you will find that changes have occurred in your template.

You can change color of your template, add your own company logo to your invoice, add or delete any field like, discount, VAT, additional charges, unit cost or it can be anything. When your client will receive an invoice which is quite clear to him, he will also make his best effort to make your payment as soon as possible and we don’t need to describe here that what importance these payments keeps for your business. This post is of enormous significance as it announces the arrival of the very first integration done at Invoicera. And today we are pleased to announce our integration with 37signals’ Basecamp project management service. Basecamp is one of the finest web based project management tool and it is an amazing service for anyone who wants to do project management with your clients and team.

It is a real haul to enter same identical entries such as client information, project name, projects task(s), etc. in multiple web based applications. In fact the whole exercise of manually adding identical records at various business applications is redundant and superfluous. Not to mention the frustration that creeps in.

But after the integration with Basecamp it is now super-easy to import client details such as addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses directly from Basecamp to your Invoicera account for instant invoicing. Apart from importing clients you can also import your Basecamp projects and staff members.

Now you can quickly import clients, projects and staff from Basecamp and instantly create an invoice for the respective client and project. Everything right from importing details and sending invoice can be carried out using a single account and we believe invoicing your Basecamp clients couldn’t be easier.

And, therefore, integration with Basecamp creates the ultimate one-two punch: Get your job done—and get paid.

That’s about it for the moment. Since this is our first ever integration we would love to hear from all about how the integration is working for you and how advantageous it has been. From our end we can promise this is our first big step towards many such useful third party integrations. And we would be further enhancing our Basecamp integration for wider usage.

It has almost become cliché to mention the benefits rendered by web-based or online invoicing. There has been an ever increasing acceptance of online billing and invoicing as it has proved to be the best fit for most business frameworks. Not to mention the staggering amount of time, money and resources saved by implementing it.

Our future developments have a clear focus on making it simpler for businesses and professionals across the globe to make it even simpler to use online invoicing. Incorporating the feature to upload your signature on invoices and quotations is a step in that direction.
Option to upload your signature has been introduced as a new feature in this round of update. You would now be able to upload the image of your signature on invoices and estimates and it would display on PDF and while taking the print of invoices/quotations (in case invoices are send using snail mail). We believe this would benefit many users as this would increase the authenticity, professionalism and trust with customers. Also a signed invoice has proven to be the most effective way to guarantee integrity and authenticity of an invoice.

So next time when you send the invoice PDF to your client do not forget to sign it.

Before we jump start the topic, for those who have already started to hyperventilate noticing the speed of our updates, enhancements and new features we would like to announce on the big stage that Invoicera likes to distinguish itself from the pack of online invoicing application which are updated once in a year. Incessant upgradation and innovation are the key virtues associated with Invoicera and at no point in time we would give them up (at least not any sooner).

So we do have surprises in store for you (some real goodies) but you would have to hold on for a while to see. For the moment we would like to treat you all with the latest update that we have churned out in the form of ‘Report Summary’.  Reports form the most elementary and significant section of any online invoicing and billing application and, therefore, need to be comprehensive, self explanatory, interactive and internal to your business. Keeping this in mind we have added a new section of report summary that would show the total of each currency amount, separately giving you individual total for each of the currency used for invoicing. The screenshot displayed below should make things more apparent:

We are pretty stoked to roll out a new set of enhancements which we are hopeful that many would have already noticed. This update has opened a pathway for the next round of updates and already the development is now underway on some key new features that we would be introducing in the days to come. However this version provides a series of enhancements and minor fixes to some of the more murky sections in the application.

Apply Tax on Items

Option to apply tax for each of the item added has now been made available. While adding a new product/service or at the time of editing an existing item it would now be possible for you to apply a default tax to be shown on invoices. The list of taxes added by you would be displayed in the listing and you can select the one that needs to be applied for that particular product/service.

Set Default Color for Invoice/Estimate Templates

Per invoice/estimate template color option is already available but we have noticed that most users prefer to use a standard invoice template and color for all invoices and estimates. Keeping this requirement in mind we have now given the option to set a default color for all templates. This way you would not be required to change the template color each time you create an invoice.

Enlarged Select Boxes

The length of all drop-down menus and select boxes has been increased to make it convenient to select the items from the listings. The listings with long characters would display in a single line which will make it a lot easier to select them. This would be particularly helpful when you are required to choose from a list of say 100 items or projects or clients, etc.

VAT/TIN Number field in Multiple Language

This was the only field which could be replaced or converted in any other language. Therefore, we did have some requests from users suggesting it should be done. So there it is, VAT/TIN number field would now show up amongst other fields while customizing the template for your client and you would be able to replace or edit it with any other value that you wish to use.

This week we continue with our series of development updates and enhancements to carry on with our responsibility of constantly improving the application and add all of the goodies that we (and our customers) have wanted.

Easier said than done though, it takes years of customer feedback and an assiduous team to build a strong product and then continue to make it stronger. And even the smallest of change has repercussions, happy accidents, opportunities and a better product. We are lucky to be blessed with such a strong base of customers who are always so supportive and keep us flooded with feedback and suggestions.

So, here is the list of changes that we would be making live this week to make sure our users’ requirements are fulfilled.

1) Option to enter the invoice/estimate number at the time of creating the invoice/estimate would be made available. This would make sure that you are not required to go to the settings time and again to edit the invoice number

2) Client business email would no longer be mandatory for adding a new client. A new client can be added even without the business email. This has been specifically done on request and also taking into the consideration the fact that some business models do not require to send out invoices

3) Last but certainly not the least, while converting expenses to invoices, expense category name would display on the invoice. At the moment only the term ‘Expense’ is used on invoices without mentioning its respective category.

These changes are currently in the testing phase and we look to make them available within this week itself. That’s all for now, and thanks again for all your support.

Over the past few months we have been making enhancements and bringing you updates at rate of knots and look to keep the juggernaut rolling for at least sometime. These enhancements and updates are a result of feedback that we receive in numbers (we are fortunate to have users who work behind the scenes for us) and meticulous brainstorming sessions conducted in our chamber. These updates, however diminutive they seem to be, have big impact not only in the functionality of the application but also connect with the users’ requirements.

Therefore, in our latest update it would now be possible to export all invoice templates to PDF in their respective colors. There were those who requested to have invoice PDF to be in the same color as invoice template, while other just wondered why PDF would have only green color (no matter which color the invoice template was). Hence, this update carries a lot of significance as it intends to meet the invoicing requirements of many while washing away the suspicion of some.

There would be lot many updates, changes and enhancements in the days to come. So don’t hold back any feedback that you would like to be implemented. Just drop it in our mail box and leave the rest to us. Till then stay tuned for our next update!

Over the past few days we have been meticulously working on prioritizing and preparing a list of upgrades/feedback that have been long due and need to be implemented on immediate grounds. One of the most important and significant section of the application is the ‘client preview’ section. Ideally it should give us the bird’s eye view of even the minutest of details pertaining to any specific clients. Therefore, after reviewing this section of the application from the user perspective almost countless times followed by as many deliberations, we decided to necessitate the required enhancements.

The new client preview section will now become your one stop shop for everything you are required to know about your client. Not only this, you can also perform any required action without having to move around the application. The drill down capability for sections like invoices, estimates, expenses and payment history would allow you to view and analyze key metrics of business performance. Since this section has been recently introduced we would be further improving it with additional functionalities.

There is one minor enhancement which has been done on the manage invoices section as well. The status of the invoices would now be highlighted with two separate colors. The light yellow color represents those invoices which have not been sent to your clients while the light orange color represents those invoices which have been sent to your clients. On the invoice status, mouse hover will display a one liner detail about the status. Also while previewing the invoice a notification would display on the top stating on which date the invoice was last sent and when the payment was done for the invoice.

All these upgrades are intended to improve the overall functionality of the application without diluting our underlying principle of simplicity. There is an unending list of feedback/enhancements that we have with us which makes our roadmap unambiguous and uncomplicated.
